ASHLAND – Julie Z’s Breads has announced it will be closing.

After months of agonizing decision making, we have decided not to renew our lease and to close the doors of Julie’s Z Breads permanently,” announced the small business owner on Facebook today, March 26.

“The current plan of the owner of 50 Main Street is to demolish the building and develop a mixed-use complex made up of mostly apartments and some commercial business,” said the popular Ashland Farmers Market vendor.

“With an uncertain timeframe and concerns about rebuilding a new kitchen elsewhere for the second time in in only five years, we decided it was not economically feasible nor a venture we want to pursue,” wrote the owner this morning on social media.

“This culminates a dream come true for Terry and me. It was a thrilling experience building up our business over the past 10 years, five of them in Ashland. We met so many wonderful people along the way and will leave with the best of memories. We plan to conduct business as usual into mid April, exact date unknown as of yet. Please come in, take home your favorites and say goodbye to us! You will all be truly missed as we go on with the next chapter of our lives.”
