MEDWAY – Antero S. Lopes, age 82, a resident of Medway and formerly a longtime resident of Framingham, died at home in the comfort and care of his family, on Thursday, March 18, 2021.

Born in Lousa, Portugal, he was the son of the late Joaquim and Aurea (Faustino) Lopes.

Antero was the loving husband of Maria Elizaria (Chadinha) Lopes.

At Age 17, he, along with his family moved to Angola, until 1975 when they settled in Framingham.

Antero worked for the General Motors Co. in Framingham for 20 years.

He was a true family man and cherished time spent with them, especially with his grandchildren.  He was an avid gardener and loved watching soccer games. He was also a member of the Portuguese Club in Framingham.

Besides his wife Maria, he is survived by his children, Grace C. Hayes of Medway, Aurea M. Mei of Milford, Paula C. Girard of Medway, and Jorge Lopes of Collidge, AZ: six grandchildren, Timothy, Mitchel, Tyler, Kasey, Jack and Nathan.

He is also survived by his siblings, Manuel Lopes of Framingham, Abilio Lopes of Framingham, Angelina Vilaranda of Framingham, Saul Lopes of Faro, Portugal, Isabel Fletcher of Framingham and Mario Lopes of Gainsville, VA.

He was the brother to the late Antonio Lopes, Graca Lopes and Jose Lopes.

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend a time of visitation on Monday, March 22, 2021 from 8 to 10:30 a.m. at Norton Funeral Home, 53 Beech Street, Framingham followed by a funeral Mass at 11 a.m. at St. Tarcisius Church, 562 Waverley St. (Rt. 135) Framingham. 

Burial will follow in St. Tarcisius Cemetery.
