FRAMINGHAM – Yesterday, President Joseph Biden signed the American Rescue Plan, which invests $40 billion into much-needed childcare.

The funding helps providers like the MetroWest YMCA in Framingham provide a vital piece of economic infrastructure, said Congresswoman Katherine Clark, who toured the YMCA this afternoon, along with Senator Elizabeth Warren, Massachusetts Senate President Karen Spilka, and Framingham State Rep. Maria Robinson.

The MetroWest YMCA provided needed child-care for health care, first responders, and essential workers at the start of the pandemic in spring 2020.

Today, a year after the pandemic began in the Commonwealth, the YMCA is providing “critical care” for families, said Sen. Warren.

The four women have been strong advocates for childcare throughout the pandemic, and thanked MetroWest YMCA staff today for their efforts during the pandemic.
