HOPKINTON – Maureen F. (Conway) Hartland, 79, a longtime resident of Hopkinton, died unexpectedly on Wednesday, March 10, 2021.

Born in Framingham, she was the eldest daughter of the late Francis & Lena (Costanza) Conway, and the beloved wife of Ernest F. Hartland.

Maureen grew up in the Saxonville and Mt Wayte neighborhoods of Framingham, which fostered strong family ties and a proud sense of her Irish-Italian heritageShe eventually settled in Hopkinton where she and Ernie raised their family.

As her children grew older, she returned to the workforce and found fulfillment working for the Fenwal Company in Ashland, and later working alongside Ernie at a home-based manufacturing business.

She enjoyed many hobbies over the course of her life including; crocheting, cross-stitching, cake-decorating, and painting decorative folk-art pieces. She had a passion for painting and gifted her family with an array of décor as well as personalized ornaments at Christmastime. She loved spending time by the ocean, especially along the coast of Maine, and celebrating the holiday season. But what Maureen was most passionate about was her loved ones. She was a constant in a world full of variables; always present to offer a helping hand, a shoulder to cry on, or words of encouragement and support. She opened her heart and her home to everyone, and leaves behind a legacy of kindness and compassion that will be sorely missed.

In addition to her husband Ernie, Maureen is survived by her children, Tom of Berlin, Glenn & his wife Debbie of Northbridge, Anne-Marie Midgette of Northbridge, and Christine Shkreli & her husband Tom of Hopkinton, eleven grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren, her sister, Theresa Fremault & her husband Larry of Hopedale. She also leaves her nephew, Kenneth Williams & his wife Amanda. She was predeceased by her sister Carol Hubner.

With consideration for current health restrictions, Maureen’s family will celebrate her life during a private graveside service.

In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made in Maureen’s name to: The American Heart Association, www.heart.org.

Arrangements by the McCarthy, McKinney & Lawler Funeral Home of Framingham.
