FRAMINGHAM – On March 5, 2021 Thomas A. Grady, loving husband and father of four, passed away after a long battle with cancer.

Thomas was born December 8, 1931, to James E. Grady Jr. and Mary (Mott) Grady in Albany, New York. 

After graduating from Christian Brothers Academy in 1949, he enlisted in the Navy. He served in theatre in USS Jarvis (DD 799) during the Korean War as a fire control technician.

At his enlistment’s conclusion, he used the GI Bill to attend Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute where he earned a Bachelor of Electrical Engineering in 1958.

On June 21, 1958, he married the love of his life Nancy Ellen (Walker) Grady.  They raised four sons and settled down in Framingham, Massachusetts, after stops in Camden, New Jersey, and Canoga Park, California.

His working career was spent at RCA, Honeywell, Lockheed Martin, and later BAE.

Thomas had a passion for both family and gardening. He and Nancy were Boy Scout leaders for their four sons. Every vacation was spent as a family, often returning to Albany to visit his folks and the growing families of siblings. He could often be found working in the garden or improving his home of over 50 years.

Thomas was preceded in death by sisters Eileen, Theresa, Lois, and Rosemary, and by brother Vincent.  He is survived by his wife Nancy, son Patrick C. Grady and his wife Debbie of Virginia, granddaughter Cynthia, her husband Austin and great-granddaughter Mora, grandson

Andrew and his wife Sarah; son Thomas S. Grady, his wife Patricia of Connecticut, granddaughter Meagan, her husband Joshua, and grandson Shawn and his wife Abby, son Peter J. Grady and his wife Michelle of Florida, and son Richard J. Grady and his wife Sonya of Massachusetts. He is also survived by his sisters Joan Rafferty and Noreen McFarland.

The family would very much like to thank the staff at Hope Care and in particular Edilaine, Vera, Lucy, and Glaucia for the wonderful care they provided Thomas at home for the last 21 months.

Relatives and friends may visit with Tom’s family on Thursday March 11, 2021 from 11am to noon at the Daniel Keenan Funeral Home, 490 Delaware Ave., Albany.

Funeral Services for Tom will be celebrated at 12:45 pm following the visitation at the Chapel at St. Agnes Mausoleum, 48 Cemetery Ave., Menands.
