FRAMINGHAM –  Gisela E. (Scherer) Ritter, 84, a longtime resident of Framingham, died peacefully and in the comfort of her home on Tuesday, February, 23, 2021 surrounded by her loving family. 

She was born in Kassel, Germany, daughter of the late Albert and Elisabeth (Nolte) Scherer.

Gisela was the devoted wife of the late Wilfried F. Ritter who died in 2011.

She was incredibly proud of her German heritage and was a member of the German Club in Walpole for many years.  

She was an avid gardener alongside her husband creating spectacular flower gardens.  

An incredible cook and highly skilled with the crochet and knitting needles.  She was also very passionate about her coffee!

Her greatest joy in life was being with family and raising her children and cherishing time spent with her grandchildren.

She will be forever missed by her sons, Alfred Ritter and his wife Maria of Lowell, Heinz Ritter and his wife Li of Framingham; her daughter, Heidi Thayer and her husband Dave of Framingham; her grandchildren, Dylan Thayer and Claudia Thayer.

She is also survived by her sister, Reni Reed of Ohio and was the sister of the late, Herta Grothe of Canada.

In keeping with her wishes, Gisela’s funeral services will be celebrated privately and she will be buried in the family lot at Edgell Grove Cemetery in Framingham.

Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the care of Norton Funeral Home in Framingham.
