FRAMINGHAM – The City of Framingham announced 83 new COVID-19 cases since Friday, February 12.

Last Thursday, Framingham’s rate of positivity was reported under 4% for the first time in months by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.

The State had the City of Framingham averaging 32.2 cases per day per 100,000 over the last 2 weeks.

Since the pandemic, there have been 219 deaths in the City of Framingham.

Framingham has had a total of 6,581 coronavirus cases since the pandemic began. Framingham has about 75,000 residents.

That means more than 9% of the City has been diagnosed with COVID-19 since the pandemic began.

The good news is 5,161 individuals have recovered.

Active cases in the City of Framingham is at 1,201

Individuals in quarantine decreased to 487.

The Commonwealth of Massachusetts operates a free COVID testing site opened at Framingham State University’s parking lot on Franklin Street. It is drive-thru and by appointment only, through the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and Project Beacon.

The drive-thru testing site, operated by Project Beacon added a third lane on February 5. Senate President Karen Spilka advocated for the third lane, which will allow an additional 150 individuals per hour to be tested.

The Framingham residents-only free COVID testing site opened at SMOC HQ at 7 Bishop Street ended in 2020.

No new walk-up testing site has been announced for 2021.

SOURCE has learned the City and state are looking at one of the City of Framingham’s polling places as a potential new walk-up COVID-19 testing site.
