FRAMINGHAM – The City of Framingham is seeking applicants for a volunteer position open on the 3-member Framingham Board of Health.

It is an unpaid position appointed by the Mayor and approved by the City Council.

Vice Chair David Moore’s term on the Board of Health has expired. He is the longest serving member on the Board. It is unknown if he will re-apply to seek another term.

The mission of the Framingham Board of Health is to protect, promote, and preserve the health and well-being of all residents of the City of Framingham. Under Massachusetts General Laws, state and local regulations and community direction, the Board of Health is held responsible for disease prevention and control; health and environmental protection and promoting a healthy community, according to the City of Framingham.

The Board of Health serves as the local extension of both the Massachusetts Department of Public Health and the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection.

the Board of Health has been active and held frequent meetings during the COVID-19 pandemic. The Board of Health has also issued several orders regarding the coronavirus pandemic.

The Chair of the Framingham Board of Health is Gillian Carcia, whose term ends on June 30, 2022. The third member of the Board is former chair Laura Housman, whose term ends in December 2021.
