FRAMINGHAM – The City of Framingham is seeking applicants for a volunteer position open on the 5-member Framingham License Commission.

The Commission is responsible for issuing licenses/permits and enforcing rules, regulations, local ordinances and state laws that regulate the service and sale of alcoholic beverages, operation of restaurants, hotels and lodging houses, indoor and outdoor entertainment, and other licenses in the City of Framingham. 

It is an unpaid position appointed by the Mayor and approved by the City Council.

Commissioner Sara Porter’s term on the Commission expires at the end of this month. She has been on the Commission since its inception in 2018. It is unknown at this time if the District 7 resident will seek re-appointment to the Commission

“The Framingham board of licensing commissioners may grant licenses relating to alcoholic beverages under General Laws chapter 138 and those licenses under General Laws chapter 140 which are not, by the provisions of said chapter, placed within the jurisdiction of another municipal officer or agency,” according to the City of Framingham

The Chair of the Framingham License Commission is Adam Barnosky from District 4. His term ends June 30, 2023. Vice chair is Tiel Doust Wadland of District 3, whose term ends June 30, 2022.

Other Commissioners are Stuart Pologe (term ends June 2022) and Laura Medrano (terms ends June 2023), both are District 7 residents.
