FRAMINGHAM – Flor A. (Zelada) Reyes, 81, a longtime resident of Framingham passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 30, 2021 after a brief battle with COVID-19.

Born in El Salvador, she was the daughter of the late Alfredo Carrillo and Teresa Zelada.

Flor immigrated to the United States in the early 1960’s but never forgot her roots. She worked hard and raised her family imparting strong cultural tradition and family values.  

A brave and generous woman, Flor loved to cook and proudly never used a recipe. When she was asked how much of something her usual response was, “un poquito (a little).” When Flor wasn’t cooking, she enjoyed playing Cacho and 31 as well as watching Caso Cerrado.

In 1992, after a protracted and devastating viral heart infection, she received a new heart at The Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston. Her family is eternally thankful to the donor family and amazing healthcare professionals that took care of her over the years.

A beloved matriarch, Flor will be remembered by her three children, Danny Ivan Zelada, Ana Carolina DeSimone, and Raisa Nahim-Hamilton, her niece Laura Carrillo Medrano, her eight grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.  She also leaves three sisters: Claudette Carrillo, Mabel Carrillo de Rivera, and Marcela Carrillo, many nieces, nephews and greater extended family.  Flor was especially close to her lifelong friend and sister-in-law Lydia Juarez of Lynn MA.  She was a devout Catholic and will also be fondly missed by her numerous friends from the various congregations she attended.

Flor is predeceased by her siblings, Alfredo Carrillo, Jr., Jaime Carrillo, Rigoberto Carrillo, Ivonne Carrillo, Marcel Enrique Carrillo, Ana Elizabeth Jimenez, and Antonio Zelada.

Family and friends will honor and remember Flor’s life by gathering for visiting hours in the McCarthy, McKinney & Lawler Funeral Home, 11 Lincoln Street in Framingham on Thursday, February 4 from 4-7 p.m. Proper mask wearing and social distancing etiquette will be strictly followed.  

Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated in St. Stephen’s Church, 251 Concord St. Framingham Friday morning at 10:30 a.m.

Interment will follow in Edgell Grove Cemetery in Framingham.
