What’s Open & Closed on Martin Luther King Jr. Day 2021

FRAMINGHAM, MA – Martin Luther King Day is a federal holiday held on the third Monday of January. It celebrates the life and achievements of civil rights leader Martin Luther King Jr.

Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. would have been 92 years old last Friday.

The civil rights leader, minister, and recipient of the 1964 Nobel Peace Prize was born in 1929.

Today is the national holiday, honoring his birth and legacy.

The Greater Framingham Community Church will hold its 34th Annual breakfast to honor Martin Luther King Jr on Monday at 9 a.m. viryually this year due to the pandemic.

Natick will hold its 16th annual Martin Luther King Jr. event Monday morning as well.

State and federal offices will be closed in observance of the holiday.

U.S. Postal Service offices will be closed but express and Amazon deliveries will take place.

Here’s a look at what’s open and what’s closed on Monday, Jan. 18:

  • City & Townoffices: Closed
  • Schools: Closed
  • Libraries: Closed

  • Banks: Closed
  • Retail stores: Open
  • Grocery stores: Open
  • Liquor stores: Open

There is no curbside trash collection. Framingham will be on a one-day delayed schedule all week.
