NATICKK – Natick High School students will be losing one in-person day per week, during the second semester, announced the principal today, January 15.

These changes take effect on Monday, January 25.

“Based on feedback from students, families and staff, we are most concerned about student learning during their at-home remote weeks,” said the Principal in her latest update to students and parents.

To provide greater support and structure for all students, we are making the following changes to the Hybrid model, said the principal

  • All Remote classes will meet on Mondays and Tuesdays
  • Wednesdays will be fully remote for all students and staff. Merge the cohorts, run 55-minute classes for all students
  • Use the Thursday and Friday afternoon CDS blocks as support blocks, requiring attendance for students who need extra help

“We recognize the obvious downside of losing one in-person day per week, but we believe it is essential to provide two synchronous days, with merged cohorts, every two weeks. This enables teachers to provide greater support and attention to students in both cohorts,” wrote the Principal.

“In the interest of safety, we will continue with the A and B cohorts and two weeks of Red classes followed by two weeks of Blue classes,” said the Principal.

Band, Choir and Wellness classes will be fully remote for Semester 2.

And the Board of Health has cleared the hockey team to resume play, said the Superintendent.
