FRAMINGHAM – The Framingham Health Department fined seven businesses in December 2020 for COVID-19 violations.

The seven fines total $2,300

Six of the businesses were fined $300 and one business, Anytime Fitness at 19 Temple Street, was fined $500 on December 23.

Only one of the seven businesses have paid the fines as of January 13, 2021. That business is Anytime Fitness.

SOURCE uncovered the COVID-19 fines via a Freedom of Information Act & Massachusetts Public Records request with the City of Framingham.

The City of Framingham and the Commonwealth of Massachusetts has been in a second surge of the virus since Thanksgiving 2020.

The City of Framingham is averaging 62 cases per day per 1,000 individuals over a 2 week period, as of Monday.

More than 5,500 people or more than 7% of the City of Framingham has tested positive for the coronavirus since the pandemic began in March 2020.

Businesses fined by the City of Framingham for violating COVID-19 orders in December 2020 were:

Tropical Cafe at 85 Hollis Street was fined $300 on December 8 for violating Massachusetts COVID order #55, face covering order.

Framingham Ford on Route 9 was fined $300 on December 9 for violating Massachusetts COVID order #43.

Tachic Outlet at 185 Concord Street was fined $300 on December 9 for violating COVID order #43

Braz Optical at 149 Concord Street was fined $300 on December 11 for violating COVID order #43

Alliance Jiu Jitsu at 16 Concord Street was fined $300 on December 12 for violating COVID order #43

Automax at 1199 Worcester Road was fined $300 on December 6 for violation of 454 CMR 31.00, workplace safety

Anytime Fitness was fined $500 on December 23 for violation of COVID order #58
