FRAMINGHAM – Micheline Mathews-Roth, 86, formerly of Boston, died, Tuesday, December 29, 2020 at St. Patrick’s Manor in Framingham.

She was the wife of 48 years to the late Robert Steele Roth formerly of Boston.

Born in Mineola NY, she was the daughter of the late John Mathews and Micheline Doguereau.

She was an Associate Professor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School, and Physician, Brigham & Women’s Hospital.

She was the author of over 100 publications in the fields of bacteriology, photobiology, dermatology and medicine.

Her principal research contribution was the development of a successful treatment for a hitherto untreatable genetic skin disease.

She was involved in many medical societies and served on study sections for the National Institute of Health, but most dear to her heart was her involvement in the Massachusetts State Science Fair.

She received a B.S. from the College of St. Elizabeth and a M.D. from New York University.

She is survived by her son, John D. Roth and his wife Sandra of Wellesley; two grandchildren, Abigail and Alexander Roth. She is also survived by her sibling, John F. Mathews of Woodstock, VT; her niece Suzanne Mathews and her nephew John Mathews.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend her funeral Mass on Saturday January 2 at 10 A.M. at the St. Paul’s Church, 29 Mount Auburn Cambridge, 02138. Burial will follow at Mt. Auburn Cemetery, Cambridge.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Norton Funeral Home, 53 Beech Street in Framingham.

In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made to St. Paul Catholic Church.
