BOSTON – The National Weather Service Boston said 2021 could start with a wintery mix of ice.
A wintry mix is expected Friday night, January 1, into early Saturday, January 2, mainly northwest of the Boston to Providence corridor and particularly in the higher terrain of Massachusetts.
A brief period of snow is possible mainly in northern Massachusetts, but the main concern is for freezing rain and sleet before precipitation changes mainly to rain by mid morning Saturday.
While icing amounts will be on the light side, it only takes a small amount to result in hazardous travel.
