FRAMINGHAM – Post Offices across the Commonwealth will be closed on Friday, January 1, as federal employees celebrate the arrival of the New Year.

Street delivery on Friday will be limited to guaranteed overnight parcels and there will be no collection of mail.

Full retail and delivery operations will resume on Saturday, January 2.

“We’d like to thank the mailing public for their patience as we navigated through historic package volumes this holiday season. We’d also like to thank our employees for their unflinching dedication to delivering for America through a difficult time in our history,” said the post office in a press release.

The Postal Service receives no tax dollars for operating expenses and relies on the sale of postage, products and services to fund its operations.
