NATICK – Joan P. (Thurston) LeBlanc, 78, of Natick, formerly of Newton and Wayland passed peacefully on December 12, 2020.  Beloved wife of 58 years to the late John F. LeBlanc.

Loving mother to her children:  Cheryle Lucenta and her husband Nicky of Natick, Guy of Marlborough, Wayne and his wife Sue Crones (and her three children and many grandchildren) of Forest Hill, MD and the late John A. LeBlanc.  Devoted grandmother to Brian Lucenta and his partner Bianca Mercado of Natick, Allison (Allie) Lucenta of Natick, Beau LeBlanc of Southborough, and the late Dana Lucenta.  Great grandmother to newborn Jonathan Lucenta.

Daughter of Richard and the late Virginia Thurston of Wayland and Center Effingham, NH; sister to Carol Thurston Zachor and Stephen Thurston of Wolfeboro, NH.

Joan maintained a close friendship with dear friends from school, the neighborhoods she lived in and places she worked.  She loved the outdoors, especially the beach, gardening, movies, local theatre, travel, reading, and spending time at her summer home in Tuftonboro, NH.

After raising her children she went back to school, earning a degree as a Medical Lab Technician then working for many years at Harvard Community Health Plan in Wellesley.

She was an early community advocate while a resident of Newton Lower Falls, appreciative of the smaller neighborhood elementary school and a parent volunteer for the annual 6th grade camping trip.

A recent rediscovery of a diary she kept chronicling a trip to Ireland demonstrated her flair for storytelling and upbeat sense of humor. She loved to laugh.

Due to current Covid-19 restrictions, funeral and interment services will be private.

Donations in Joan’s memory can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association – www.alz.org/manh

Arrangements by Everett Funeral Home in Natick.
