FRAMINGHAM – In a global virtual ceremony this week, the Institute of Industry Analyst Relations (IIAR), a not-for-profit member influencer relations association, announced IDC as its Analyst Firm of the Year 2020.

In its announcement, the IIAR stated, “This year AR professionals recognized IDC as the Analyst Firm of the Year based on its breadth of research, global coverage, and the quality of insights.” The announcement also noted, “When compared to other firms nominated, AR professionals said they appreciated the flexibility IDC offered, in addition to overall value for money.”

“We are proud to receive this award, especially in recognition of everything we have done in response to the pandemic. 2020 has been a year of immense challenge. To meet our clients’ changing needs, IDC created new research and data products addressing the impact of COVID-19 on businesses and the economy and launched a series of virtual events to bring this research to life. The response from our clients has been very positive and we hope that our efforts have contributed to their success this year,” said Crawford Del Prete, president, IDC. “We want to thank all the AR professionals who have been following our efforts and recognized our efforts. Your support is greatly appreciated, and we look forward to continue working with you in 2021 and beyond.”

In early 2020, IDC quickly pivoted its global research organization towards new research that addressed the rapidly changing conditions of the pandemic across geographies and industries. “Our Global COVID-19 IT Spending Survey, COVID-19 IT Spending Global Index, and monthly IT spending forecast adjustments via IDC’s Black Book Live provided continuous critical insights to our customers,” added Meredith Whalen, chief research officer at IDC. “I’m extremely proud of how IDC analysts have shown agility, innovation, and value in addressing the unique questions our customers are facing today and providing insights into how they can become more digitally resilient in the future.”

IDC is also proud to acknowledge that the IIAR awarded the Analyst of the Year 2020 to IDC’s Peter Marston, research director, Worldwide Intelligent Application Services, stating that this was due to his “understanding of the apps space being second to none.”

“Peter’s efforts exemplify what we strive for at IDC every day – to make our customers successful by better understanding the impact of technology on business and society,” added Del Prete.
