BOSTON – The Massachusetts Supreme Court said Governor Charlie Baker is allowed to use emergency orders to stop the spread of COVID-19 during this pandemic.

The 40-page ruling was issued by Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court Justice Elspeth B. Cypher.

The lawsuit was by the New Civil Liberties Alliance on behalf of 10 salons, restaurants, and religious organizations.

The state’s highest court said the Governor was allowed to close some businesses, limit gathering sizes, and order face coverings, considering the scope of the pandemic.
