WASHINGTON DC – The United States set a new one-day record for COVID deaths on Wednesday, December 2.

There were 3,157 COVID-19 deaths reported Wednesday, December 2.

That is an all-time high for the pandemic.

The previous record of 2,603 set on April 15. 

The new record is about 20% higher.

Since the pandemic began, 273,799 people in the US have died of the virus and more than 13.9 million have been infected, according to Johns Hopkins University. 

Massachusetts set its highest one-day COVID positive count on Wednesday.
