ASHLAND – Annually, Senate President Karen Spilka hosts a senior health & wellness fair in her district at Keefe Technical High School.
This year, like many events in 2020, the annual event will go virtual.
“Caring for the mental health of our older adults has never been more important than it is during the COVID-19 crisis. We all have to social distance to keep each other safe, but this isolation is making it difficult for seniors to stay engaged with family, friends, and their communities,” said the Senate President. “That’s why I am pleased to announce that I am producing a virtual Senior Health & Wellness Fair for 2020, which will focus on helping viewers manage their physical and mental health during the pandemic.”
The virtual event will be LIVE on Friday, Nov. 2020 at 10 a.m.
Sandra Harris, the volunteer President of AARP Massachusetts will be the keynote speaker at the 2020 Virtual Senior Health & Wellness Fair.
She has worked extensively with the City of Boston Commissioner on Affairs of the Elderly, AARP Massachusetts, and UMass Boston on the Age-Friendly Boston initiative from its inception. She has participated in the Age-Friendly Action Planning Committee, in neighborhood forums and focus groups, and spearheaded the development of the Age-Friendly Boston “Celebrating the Voices” video and photo exhibit.
She will speak on strategies to overcome social isolation during COVID-19.
