Framingham State Reports Zero New COVID Cases; Positivity Rate For Last 30 Days at 0.09%

FRAMINGHAM – Framingham State University is doing its part to stop the spread of the coronavirus in the City of Framingham.

The University tested 720 individuals on October 27 for COVID-19, with no new positive COVID-19 case. The University reported its latest results yesterday.

In the last 30 days, the University has tested 3,352 students, staff, and employees, with 3 individuals testing positive for the coronavirus.

The University’s positive rate for the last 30 days is 0.09%.

The City of Framingham has been over 2.2% positive rate for the last 14 days according to the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. The City of Framingham has been a high-risk community for the spread of the virus for the last 9 weeks.

The University’s positive rate in the last week is 0%.

Framingham State University started class Wednesday, September 2. Only about 20 percent of students are living in dorms on campus, said the University. And those residence halls are only at 40% capacity, due to the pandemic.

The University’s first case was on August 25. The University has had a total of 21 cases total.

A total of 1,226 students are taking at least one course on campus, said University President F. Javier Cevallos.

About 15 percent of the University’s courses this semester are being offered in-person, versus 85 percent offered remotely, according to the University.

The University currently has no students in isolation on campus and two students isolated off campus.

The University also has another no students in quarantine on campus, and three students off campus.

The University announced earlier this month, that it has cancelled spring break and will start the spring semester one week later than usual.
