WASHINGTON DC – United States Senator Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass) today released the United States Postal Service Board of Governors’ response to her calls for the Board members to release their federal financial disclosure forms in order for the public to rule out potential conflicts of interest, and called for the Board of Governors to immediately reverse Postmaster General Louis DeJoy’s changes to Postal Service operations that have resulted in significant mail service delays.
Senator Warren released the following statement regarding the Board’s refusal to disclose their own financial ties and right DeJoy’s missteps at the Postal Service:
“The USPS Board of Governors has refused to release information about their own financial ties and has doubled down on their support of Louis DeJoy. The Board members are acting as accomplices to DeJoy while he sabotages the Postal Service. Once again, I call on the Board members to release their financial disclosure forms, remove DeJoy, and do their jobs by reversing DeJoy’s actions.”

Louis DeJoy began sabotaging the Postal Service immediately after he took over as Postmaster General. His actions dramatically slowed down deliveries of life-saving drugs, retirement benefits, ballots, and all kinds of mail–and mail service still has not recovered. In August, Senator Warren wrote to the USPS Board of Governors asking them to release their federal financial disclosure forms so that at least the American public could be confident that the Board did not have huge financial conflicts of interest. They refused, and in a letter to Senator Warren released today made the absurd claim that they remain “fully confident that Mr. DeJoy is the right person for the job.” The ongoing postal delivery delays, however, reveal that there is no reason for their confidence.

Mr. DeJoy is a Trump megadonor,and he and his wife own or recently owned “$30.1 million to $75.3 million in assets in Postal Service competitors or contractors.”
In August, Senator Warren asked the Postal Service Inspector General to conduct an investigation of Mr. DeJoy’s decisions as Postmaster General The Inspector General report released last week, revealed Postmaster General DeJoy’s record in grim detail, finding that the changes he put in place dramatically undercut the USPS’s ability to provide on-time mail delivery.
