ASHLAND -For the second week in a row, an Ashland restaurant has closed after an employee tested positive for COVID-19.

“Mexico City Taqueria will be proactively closing until further notice as we have had an employee test positive for covid-19,” announced the popular Route 135 establishment.

“The employee that has tested positive has not been in direct contact with any other staff or customers in over a week, and as a precaution we are having all staff tested immediately,” said the restaurant.

Last week, Stone’s Public House closed on Wednesday after an employee tested positive. The Main Street restaurant re-opened today.

“We notified the Ashland Covid-19 task force and board of health. During this time, we have hired a commercial cleaning company who will be conducting a deep cleaning, disinfection, and sanitization of the restaurant. We are following all local, state and federal guidelines for covid-19 and taking these extra steps to ensure the safety of our staff, and you are valued guests,” said owner Mayra Ramirez.

In Massachusetts, if an employee, customer, or vendor of restaurant tests positive or is presumed to be positive for COVID-19, the restaurant must immediately shut down for at least 24 hours, cleaning and disinfecting in accordance with CDC guidelines before reopening.
