WASHINGTON DC – Please be advised that in accordance with the Presidential proclamation issued to honor Associate Justice of the United States Supreme Court Ruth Bader Ginsburg, who passed away on September 18, 2020, and as ordered by Massachusetts Governor Charlie Baker, the United States of America flag and the Commonwealth of Massachusetts flag shall be flown at half-staff at all state buildings beginning immediately until sunset on the day of interment.

NOTE: This half-staff order supersedes the prior instruction relative to Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court Chief Justice Gants.  

The United States of America flag and the Commonwealth of Massachusetts flag should remain at half-staff until further notice.

This gubernatorial order applies to:

1.  The main or administration building of each public institution of the Commonwealth, e.g. town and city halls

2.  Other state-owned or state-controlled buildings

3.  All state military installations
