FRAMINGHAM – After 10 new positive coronavirus cases on the campus of Framingham State University after the holiday weekend, the University tested 114 students on Friday, and reported zero new cases on September 11.
Framingham State University started class Wednesday, September 2. A week later and 14 students and 1 staffer were positive for the coronavirus.
On Friday, September 4, five had tested positive for the coronavirus at the University, but by September 9, that number has tripled to 15 cases.

The University has tested 2,141 individuals since students returned to campus, and has a positive rate of 1.12 over the last 7 days, through September 11.
The University’s first cases was on August 25. Three more cases were identified on August 30.
Only about 20 percent of students are living in dorms on campus, said the University. And those residence halls are only at 40% capacity, due to the pandemic.

A total of 1,226 students are taking at least one course on campus, said University President F. Javier Cevallos.
The University said 8 students are isolated on campus and 4 are isolated off campus.
The University also has another 2 students in quarantine on campus.
About 15 percent of the University’s courses this semester are being offered in-person, versus 85 percent offered remotely, according to the University.
