FRAMINGHAM – The MetroWest YMCA will-reopen on July 6, under the Governor’s Phase III re-opening plan.

“On Thursday the Governor announced that Phase 3 of the state’s reopening plan will begin on Monday, July 6. Your entire Y Team has been hard at work making sure our facility at 280 Old Connecticut Path in Framingham would be ready, and we are confident that you are going to love what you see. As we welcome you back please know that safety is our top priority. You’ll find a whole new system based on CDC and state guidelines to make your visit smooth and safe,” posted CEO Rick MacPherson on July 3.

“To help you be aware of the changes in our protocols and guidelines please take a few minutes to review the information that has been prepared by our team. We appreciate your patience and understanding as we follow state guidance and work to provide you with a safe, enjoyable experience,” posted MacPherson.

The MetroWest YMCA will be open 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday with an hour to sanitize. The facility will close 1 to 2 p.m. Monday through Friday to sanitize.

The MetroWest YMCA will be closed on Saturdays and Sundays, for now.

To ensure that there is space available for your visit, we’re asking you to make a reservation before you arrive. This includes working out in the Wellness Center, Group Exercise and Lap Swim (this is what will be available during phase 1 of our reopening).Reserve your time here.


When you arrive at the YMCA you will be required to wear a face covering and must keep it on whenever you are in a common area and/or moving throughout the building. 

As you enter our building you will be asked 3 health screening questions to ensure you are feeling well before entering the YMCA. If you are not feeling well, do not enter the facility. Members must fill out a new waiver to enter the building.

 You will be asked to sanitize your hands upon entering the facility. Additional hand sanitizing stations have been added throughout the building. You will be asked to maintain Social Distancing
You will notice that traffic patterns have changed and you will need to exit the Y out one of our side door

There will be staff present to help you navigate your first day back with ease. Wellness CenterReservations are required. You can make a reservation 48 hours in advance for a 1 hour time slot. Reserve your time here.

Face coverings are required in the Wellness Center throughout your workout, unless you are on a piece of cardiovascular equipment, which have been spaced 14 feet apart.

In all other areas, please maintain at least 6 ft of distance.We have made changes to our layout including moving some cardiovascular equipment and some strength equipment to the turf space.

Strength spaces will have a sign with a capacity limit, do not enter if the capacity has already been reached.Each machine will have a set of red and green cones.

After using a machine with a green cone please wipe it down, turn it to red, and a staff member will clean and sanitize then turn it back to green for the next member’s use.

When you have finished using smaller pieces of equipment (stability balls, medicine balls, resistance bands, etc,) please place them in the labeled bins for sanitizing.When you are using dumbbells or barbells, please do not return them to the rack in between sets.

When you have finished, please wipe down the dumbbells and leave them on the floor.In order to maintain 14 ft of distance between cardiovascular equipment, signage is posted on pieces that are not available.

Pool Reservations are required. You can make a reservation 48 hours in advance for a 50 minute time slot in a lap lane. Reserve your time here.

There will be one lap swimmer allowed per lane.

Face masks are not allowed while you are in the water, and they must be worn when you are in the locker room and on the pool deck.

Pool reservations are for adults only.

Please wear your bathing suit to the Y.

Please remember your towel as we cannot offer towel service at this time.

Please access the pool deck through the pool viewing area door, and then enter the family locker room for access to a shower before swimming.

Please bring all of your belongings onto the pool deck.

There are designated spots at the shallow end to leave your belongings.

At the end of your swim, please exit through the door to the pool viewing area.

Changing in the locker room is not permitted.

The family locker room is the only locker room available for members in this phase of reopening.

This locker room will give you access to bathrooms in addition to the restrooms on the upper level.

To get to the lower level, use the “down” staircase in the Wellness Center next to the new wellness office.Changing stalls and lockers are not available during this phase.

Men’s and Women’s locker rooms are not available during this phase.

Boys and Girls locker rooms are for camp use only.
