FRAMINGHAM – A Christa McAuliffe Charter School 7th grade student has planned a Black Lives Matter event for Saturday, June 20.

Framingham youth Brendan Rodrigues, 12, has organized the Justice March for Black Lives at Butterworth Park at 2 p.m. the event is a protest and a chance for voices to be heard.

“I will be having students speak,” said Rodrigues.

“I decided to organize this is because it felt wrong. I am a person of color. That could have been my father in that video, and if I were to be silent on this issue it would make me feel like I’m taking the side of the oppressors,” said the Framingham middle school student.

“My hope is that I can see change and, at least if I’m able to change one more person’s mind set about this issue that’s a win in my book,” said Rodrigues.

All are invited to attend and bring signs.

Everyone is asked to wear a face covering.

The event is scheduled fro 2 to 4:30 p.m.
