FRAMINGHAM – The 11-member elected City Council is in the midst of budget deliberations. Budget deliberations will continue on Tuesday night, June 16 at 7 p.m.

Last Tuesday, June 9, District 2 City Councilors Cesar Stewart-Morales made a motion to prohibit the police department from purchasing new cruisers in Fiscal Year 2021.

The motion specifically prohibited Framingham Police Chief Steven Trask from purchasing any cruisers.

“No cruisers at all,” said the District 2 Councilor.

The motion passed 6-5.

Voting in favor were District 1 Councilor Christine Long, Stewart-Morales, District 3 Councilor Adam Steiner, District 5 Councilor Robert Case, District 7 Councilor Margareth Shepard, and District 9 Councilor Tracey Bryant.

Morales-Stewart also made a motion to reduce the police line item budget by $85,000, which also passed.
