SOMERVILLE – Elsie Lorraine (Peck) Batten, 85, of Somerville, went to be with the Lord on May 31, 2020.

Born in Batavia, NY, Elsie graduated from Oakfield-Alabama Central High School, then Houghton College, with a degree in Christian Education. Marrying Ernest Batten in 1961, she served with him in Germany as a missionary until 1964.

After time in New Jersey and Maine, they settled in Holliston, where Elsie taught preschool for many years before retiring with Ernest to Somerville.

Elsie was much loved by her family, students & friends and was known for her quiet strength, unshakable faith, and dedication to serving the Lord. She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Ernest Batten; her brother, Chuck Peck and his wife, Linda Peck, of Gowanda, NY; her son, Dave Batten & his significant other, Kim Drexel of Chandler, AZ; her daughter, Lynn Batten of Woonsocket, RI, her grandchildren, Tyler Gray of Woonsocket, RI, Jesse Gray & her wife, Brittany Gray, of Auburn, MA; and Ashley Gray & her fiance, Christopher Watson, of Uxbridge, MA; along with many nieces & nephews.

Arrangements are pending at this time by Matarese Funeral Home in Ashland.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Ankerberg Theological Institute.
