FRAMINGHAM – New positive coronavirus cases have slowed in the City of Framingham.

A half dozen new cases were reported today, June 6, and less than a dozen cases in the last 72 hours.

Since the pandemic began on March 11 in the City, there have been 1,690 positive COVID-19 cases.

Despite the slow down, Framingham is one of the top 12 communities in the state with coronavirus cases. Framingham ranks 14th in the state for the population.

The good news is 1,236 individuals have recovered.

In total, there have been 96 deaths due to COVID-19 or complications from the virus in the City since the pandemic began.

In addition to the active cases, the Framingham Health Department currently is following 133 residents in quarantine.

There are more than 70,000 residents in the City of Framingham.
