BOSTON – The rescheduled 2020 Boston Marathon has been cancelled.

The 2020 Boston Marathon scheduled to be held on Patriots Day in April and then rescheduled for Sept 14 has been cancelled.

The coronavirus pandemic postponed the April 20th event and now the Sept 14th event.

The cancellation is the first ever for the race, which began in 1897.

Organizers said there will be a “virtual event” in which participants who verify that they ran 26.2 miles on their own will receive their finisher’s medal.
