FRAMINGHAM – The City of Framingham is reporting 14 new cases of the Coronavirus to start the Memorial Day weekend on Friday, May 22. There were 57 new cases reported yesterday.

Framingham has reported more than 200 new cases in the last 7 days.

Since the pandemic began on March 11 in the City, there have been 1,564 positive COVID-19 cases.

More than 13% of of the City’s total cases have happened in the last week.

Framingham is one of the top 15 communities in the state with coronavirus cases.

Seventy of the 1,550 cases are MCI-Framingham inmates, which is 42% of the facility.

The good news is 753 individual have recovered.

The City reported another COVID-19 death today, making 26 in the last week.

In total, there have been 86 deaths due to COVID-19 or complications from the virus in the City since the pandemic began.

In addition to the active cases, the Framingham Health Department currently is following 234 residents in quarantine.

It is unknown how many individuals have been tested for the virus in Framingham.

There are more than 70,000 residents in the City of Framingham.

The City said via its spokesperson it does not have “Framingham-specific information on how many of our residents are being tested.  The state receive statewide information from all testing labs on the number of tests conducted each day.  We, nor any individual community, receive community-specific information from any testing lab.”
