BOSTON – After two consecutive days of less than 1,000 coronavirus cases, the Commonwealth of Massachusetts is reporting 1,165 new cases of the virus today, May 13.
Massachusetts has now surpassed 80,000 COVID-19 positive cases. As of 4 p.m. today, the state has 80,497 cases.
The United States surpassed 80,000 deaths due to the virus on Tuesday.
Yesterday, the state reported 33 deaths. Today, the state is reporting 174 new deaths.
Since the pandemic began Massachusetts has reported 5,315 COVID-19 or complications from the virus deaths.
There is no cure and no vaccine for COVID-19, at this time.
Massachusetts ranks fourth in the United States behind New York, New Jersey & Illinois for the most positive cases.

The state tested 8,536 individuals in the last 24 hours
As of May 13 at 4 p.m., the state has tested more 410,032 individuals.

The number of COVID-19 cases hospitalized was at 9% to start May. A good sign is the number has 4% for the last week.
Another good sign, the number of individuals in ICUs in the state is under 800 for the first time.

The Baker-Politio administration announced a 4-prong re-opening plan yesterday, May 11.
A full report on the plan is due on May 18. Massachusetts Governor Charlie Baker has extended the order to keep non-essential businesses closed through May 18.
The Massachusetts Governor said this 4-phased opening will “require patience” by everybody.

Middlesex County has the most positive cases at 18,201.
In comparison, Berkshire County has 486 cases, and Barnstable County on Cape Cod has 1,111 cases.
Framingham has the most cases in MetroWest. The City of Framingham is also among the top 20 communities with coronavirus cases in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
The entire State of Maine has just about 1,400 cases of the virus. and the City of Framingham has about 1,300 cases.
