Interim Principal Appointed For Barbieri Elementary School

FRAMINGHAM – Framingham Superintendent of Schools Bob Tremblay has named an interim principal for Barbieri Elementary School for the 2020-2021 school year.

Barbieri Elementary Vice Principal Maria Davis will be the interim principal, announced Tremblay this morning, May 7.

Davis will succeed Principal Susan McGilvray-Rivet, who announced she is retiring.

Davis has spent the past 13 years at Framingham Public Schools, starting her career as a world tanguage Teacher at Cameron Middle School, then transferring to Framingham High School as the department dead for the World Languages Department.

For the past four years, she has been a Vice Principal at Barbieri Elementary School, where she worked hard to support the enhancement of behavioral and academic expectations for all students, said Tremblay in his announcement to staff & parents.

“While at Barbieri, Ms. Davis has demonstrated a passion and energy for making sure that all students receive equitable access to high quality instruction and that vision and belief system is the beacon for her love for the students, school, families and community she serves,” wrote Tremblay in his announcement.

“I would like to take this opportunity to thank Dr. McGilvrary-Rivet for her consistent and tireless advocacy for the students of Framingham Public Schools, and especially the students at Barbieri Elementary School. Her ardent commitment to bilingual education and service to underserved populations leave Framingham a more diverse, equitable and inclusive place than when she first came to Framingham Public Schools in 1994,” said the superintendent. 

Tremblay also thanked Ricardo Dobles for his continued role as a Vice Principal at Barbieri Elementary School.

“His collaborative nature and administrative expertise will prove valuable in the day and months ahead,” said the superntendent.
