MARLBOROUGH – For the second consecutive day, the City of Marlborough is reporting a death from the coronavirus.

The total deaths due to the pandemic is now at 6.

The City of Marlborough saw a 13.6% increase in COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours.

The City is reporting 35 new cases of the coronavirus today, April 21, for total of 292 cases.

It is unknown how many residents have been tested in the City.

The good news is that 113 individuals have recovered from the virus since the pandemic began. There are 173 active cases in the city.

Neighboring Framingham has more than 374 cases, the most in MetroWest.

The Governor said the surge in cases could come between April 10 and yesterday, April 20.

Today, Massachusetts Governor Charlie Baker announced he is closing schools physically for the remaining 2019-2020 school year.

Massachusetts is “still very much in the grip of the pandemic,” said Gov. Baker.

There is no cure and no vaccine, reminded the Governor, speaking at a press conference today.

The Commonwealth of Massachusetts reported 1,556 new COVID-19 positive cases within the last 24 hours. Yesterday, the Commonwealth reported 1566 cases.

The Massachusetts Department of Public Health is reporting a total of 41,199 positive cases since the pandemic began, as of April 21.

Really important for people to understand what is at stake, said Gov. Baker.

“Doing it wrong could create more hardship in the long run,” said the Governor.

“We are in this together Massachusetts,” said Gov. Baker. “We will come out of this stronger.”

As of today at 4 p.m., the state has tested 175,372

The Commonwealth announced 152 new deaths from COVID-19 today, April 21.

That brings the total since the pandemic began to 1,961 deaths.
