FRAMINGHAM – Eleven-year-old Daniel Miscia has been trying to bring joy to his Framingham neighborhood in the middle of this coronavirus pandemic.

The McCarthy Elementary School fifth-grader has not been in his classroom since March 11, and he wanted to do something that would make people smile.

He remembered “Sonny” the woman in Nobscot, who holds a peace sign often at the corner of Water Street and Edgell Road, and decided he would bring some joy to his neighborhood.

So on Wednesday, April 15, one of the few sunny days during this pandemic, he made a sign and stood out in his neighborhood holding a “Honk For Joy” sign

That first day, a lot of cars beeped at him, said his mom Sherry.

So yesterday, “he went back out again at 2:30 p.m. “and even more cars were beeping.”

Sherry said many people waved to Daniel, and one neighbor “opened his front door and blew his tuba. It was such a great moment!”

“We’ve had friends asked us when he’s going to be there so that they can drive by and wave,” said Sherry.

Daniel is back out there again today, April 17, bringing joy to his neighborhood.
