FRAMINGHAM – Jeannette M. (Tonner) Loughman, 91, died peacefully, Thursday, April 2, 2020, at her own home under the care of her loving family.
Born in Quincy, on November 30, 1928, She was the daughter of the late Austin and Bertie Dorothea (Harvey) Tonner.
As a child she collected insects and loved gardening with her father. Her neighbor Mary taught her all about bird identification and she became an avid birder.
Jeannette graduated from Needham High School in 1946 and Madison College in Harrison VA for 2 years and transferred to UMASS Amherst where graduating in 1950 with a BS in entomology
She worked for the USDA in Rochester NY for 2 years before marrying Robert H Booth and moving to Framingham in December 1954.
She worked for Fishbein Insurance from 1972-1975 and then for Ahearn Insurance processing insurance claims until 1994.
She was an avid birder and participated regularly in the Cornell Lab bird count. She worked as a lunch lady at Potter Road Elementary School.
She sold Beauty Counselor products for many years. She taught Sunday School and was the secretary at Grace Church.
She married Leo J Loughman in April of 1979 and they had 19 wonderful years together.
They enjoyed trips in their RV and taking the ferry to Nova Scotia. They travelled to Ireland, Portugal and Switzerland. She enjoyed the times when the grandchildren came to swim at the pool.
She was active in Edwards Church and sang in the choir for 20 years. She walked at the mall and enjoyed trips with the Callahan Center.
attended UMASS reunions every year until 2018 and really enjoyed spending time with her Sorority Sisters.
She lived her life to the fullest spending time with her wonderful family and others whose lives she touched.
Jeannette is survived by her 8 children; Cynthia Booth of Framingham, Leo and Valerie Loughman of Littleton, Russell and Nancy Booth of McCormick, SC, Karen and Phillip Dolliver of Framingham, Kathleen and Victor Thiffault of Uxbridge, Deborah Sprague and partner Joe Bravo of Ashland, Michael and Kelly Loughman of Bellingham, Joan and Bob Guerrant of Southborough as well as 15 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Mass Audubon Society or Edwards Church UCC.
Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the care of Norton Funeral Home, 53 Beech St. Street in Framingham.
