FRAMINGHAM – Swimming pools at hotels and condo and apartment complexes are temporarily prohibited from opening amid the COVID- 19 pandemic, announced the City of Framingham today, April 8.

“Because pools at these locations are considered “public,” a permit is needed to open them, and a certified pool operator must complete maintenance,” said the City in a press release.

At this time, under Governor Baker’s Emergency Order, pool companies, which employ certified operators, are not considered an essential business, said the City.

Currently, the Framingham Department of Health will not execute any permits for swimming pools at hotels and condo and apartment complexes.

A private pool at a resident’s home can be opened if maintained by its owner.
