FRAMINGHAM – Local entrepreneur, David Zamarin, founded his company DetraPel at just 15 years of age.

By 19, he had already competed on, and received offers, on the hit show Shark Tank.

Since graduating from college last year, Zamarin has been working harder than ever to make meaningful products that help people protect their favorite fabric belongings.

Today, his Framingham-based company, like so many other small local businesses, faces the challenge of COVID-19.

Until now, DetraPel has prided itself on making the safest, non-toxic fabric protectors on the market.

Due to the global emergency, however, David and his team realized that other products are critical now to ensure the safety and wellbeing of all people.

In light of the widespread shortages in disinfecting and sanitizing products, the company has acted quickly to shift its focus to offer an EPA-registered, hospital-grade disinfectant that sanitizes surfaces and kills 99.9% of bacteria and viruses, including COVID-19.

While the team is working around the clock to produce the disinfectant from their facility in Framingham, and make it available to their local customers for order on detrapel.com, Zamarin has said, “production efforts are prioritized for end-users in critical infrastructure including healthcare, grocery stores, restaurants, and certain government facilities who are working at the front lines of this public emergency”.

Though the DetraPel team is small, Zamarin said, “we all have to play a role in putting an end to this virus”.
