ASHLAND – Charlie Tempesta received a nice surprise on his seventh birthday yesterday, April 1.

It’s tough having a birthday during the coronavirus. No family celebration. No party with friends.

But yesterday the first-grade student at Warren Elementary received a drive-by visit with lights and sirens by Ashland Police Chief Vince Alfano and Town Manager Michael Herbert.

“Both boys loved it,’ said Kristine Henning.

“We’d like to thank our community for the outpouring of love for my son’s 7th birthday during a very stressful time,” said Henning.

Herbert also awarded the boy a special guitar pick. The Ashland Town Manager has been known to rock out on the guitar.

The family was also visited by the Ashland Fire Department and a parade of and friends, who decorated their cars with birthday wishes, said Henning.
