BOSTON – Massachusetts Governor Charlie baker announced the federal government has approved the Commonwealth’s request for 1,000 ventilators.

The order is expected to arrive the first week of April.

Massachusetts, currently has about 1,400 ventilators, and said more were drastically needed, as the Governor forecasted a surge in coronavirus cases possibly between April 7-17.

COVID-19 can cause respiratory failure, which is why the ventilators are needed.

Massachusetts now has more than 5,700 cases of the virus.

Gov. Baker has been frustrated for more than a week with the Federal government in trying to acquire much-needed medical equipment for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
