FRAMINGHAM – Apple TV dropped the trailer for its TV series based on the best-selling book of the same title – Defending Jacob, yesterday, March 25.

Paramount Television crews filmed scenes for the series starring Chris Evans, in 2019 in Framingham, Natick, Hudson, etc. Filming also took place in Newton, where the novel is set. Other filming locations included Worcester, Salem, and Medford.

Evans, most-famous for his Captain America role in Marvel movies, grew up in Framingham and Sudbury. he attended Brophy Elementary, and graduated from Lincoln-Sudbury High.

The Apple TV series is based on a 2012-novel authored by William Landay.

The crime-drama focuses on a father (Evans) dealing with the accusation that his 14-year-old son is a murderer. The tale is dark.

The TV miniseries has Evans as Andy Barber, Jaeden Martell as 14-year-old Jacob Barber, and Michelle Dockery as Laurie Barber.

Other actors include J.K. Simmons, Cherry Jones, Sakina Jaffrey, and Betty Gabriel

The series is scheduled to have 8-episodes, with the first to be released on April 24, 2020. Subsequent episodes will air every Friday.
