FRAMINGHAM – The 3-member Framingham Board of Health will hold an emergency meeting on Tuesday, March 24, to vote to stop the operation of some businesses, during this coronavirus pandemic.

The meeting notice was posted at 8:30 p.m. on Monday, March 23.

The meeting is scheduled remotely at 5:30 p.m. on March 24.

The Board of Health will vote on several agenda items including:

Prohibiting all “consumer self-service operations in any licensed food establishment in Framingham until further notice.

Prohibiting any “congregation of people inside a lottery retailer in Framingham” until further notice.

“This prohibition does not apply to customers that are practicing social distancing AND in the process of actively purchasing essential items such as food and personal care products. All tables and chairs for customer use shall be removed,” according to the agenda.

“Certain lottery products, such as Keno, attracts the congregations of lottery customers inside retail establishments,” noted the order.

Prohibiting any “in-person personal care services” in Framingham until further notice.

Personal care services under the order would include:

 Hair salons and barbershops

 Beauty Parlors, including but not limited to waxing, facials, and similar services

 Massage Therapy Establishments, including in-home services

 Body Arts Establishments

 Bodyworks Establishments

 Nail Salons

 Spas

 Gyms and Fitness Facilities

 Tanning Salons

“Certain personal care services are conducted in person and are difficult to practice social distancing of keeping at least six feet between the service provider and the customer,” stated the Framingham Board of Health order to be voted on.

The vote tonight will come after Massachusetts Governor Charlie Baker’s order for non- essential businesses to cease operating at noon on Tuesday, March 24.
