FRAMINGHAM – Framingham Firefighters Local 1652 has started a GoFundMe to raise $15,000 for Deputy Chief Brad Smith, a 32-year veteran of the Framingham Fire Department.

Deputy Chief Smith was diagnosed with Stage 4 stomach and bone cancer in January 2020.

The goal of this fundraiser is to help his family with the many costs associated with hospice care, said the union.

He is a proud father of two, and one of the most well-liked members of the department, said the union.

Deputy Smith has continually sought to improve his knowledge of the Fire Service, the many accreditations and certifications he has attained show his dedication to the Fire Service, and ultimately serving the citizens of Framingham, said the GoFundMe.

Brad is a huge sports fan, loves spending time at Cape with his family, a big foodie (also known to partake in a libation or two), and recently became engaged to his longtime girlfriend Carmella, said the GoFundMe.

Any and all donations are greatly appreciated to help our friend & brother, said the union. More than $8,500 has already been raised.
