FRAMINGHAM – A decades-old law firm in Framingham has announced it will offer two $1,000 scholarships for the Class of 2020 graduating high school students in Framingham and Natick.

Mahaney & Pappas has been in practice for more than 45 years, according to its website.

Joseph M. Mahaney has been practicing for more than 30 decades and  Charles S. Pappas for well over a decade.

“Both Joe and Chuck are strong proponents of obtaining an education for future growth and success. With the increasing costs, we understand the financial challenges some face in getting the education they desire. We offer these scholarships to afford qualifying students the ability to pursue their dreams,” announced the firm.

Scholarship Requirements and Submission

In order to be eligible for consideration of a scholarship, the following criteria must be met and established:

  • Applicants must be a graduating high school senior in good standing within your high school in Town of Natick or City of Framingham (you must submit documentation to satisfy this requirement);
  • You must provide proof of acceptance to an accredited 2 or 4 year college or university within the United States (a copy of your acceptance letter or other proof of acceptance must be provided); and,
  • An essay between 500 and 1,000 words must be submitted that meets the requirements below;
  • All of the above items must be submitted to our office via email or mail by April 30, 2020.

Essay Requirements

All applicants must submit an essay between 500 and 1,000 words.

We are a Massachusetts personal injury law firm that specializes in helping people who have been hurt in accidents or injured on the job.

In our law practice, we often meet with accident victims and their families who are affected by serious injuries and see firsthand how those injuries can have a drastic impact on their lives.

Therefore, the topic of all essays should be about an injury either you or someone you know suffered and how you were instrumental in overcoming or helping another overcome the injury.

Your essay must also include a brief statement of why you are deserving of the scholarship and how it will help further your education.

About the Award Winners Selection Process

Our attorneys will review all items submitted for the scholarship and read each essay. Winners will be selected based upon the individuality and message of their essay and statements on why they are deserving on the scholarship.

Deadlines and Award Presentations

All requirements and essays are due by April 30, 2020.

Scholarship winners will be selected and notified of the award by May 31, 2020.

The Scholarship Award will be available for pick up at our office located at 639 Concord Street, Framingham, MA 01702 between June 1, 2020 and June 12, 2020.  

If you are selected as a winner of the Scholarship Award, you must call our office at (508) 879-3500 to schedule a time to receive your award.

Any applicable federal, state and local taxes on the scholarship will be the sole responsibility of the recipient.
