Framingham Mayor Issues Statement on Double Homicide

This is a press release issued by the Mayor’s office on Sunday at 9:27 a.m.

FRAMINGHAM – “As many you are aware, there was a shooting late Friday evening that resulted in the death of two men. This is still an active investigation, and it is the practice of the District Attorney’s office and the Police Department to take the lead on issuing statements in such incidents. While this was an isolated incident, nevertheless it is violence in our community,” said Mayor Yvonne Spicer in a prepared statement issued Sunday morning.

“Neighbors were quick to alert authorities when they heard gunshots which resulted in immediate response by our Police Department. The police spent yesterday searching for and gathering evidence, as well as following up on leads. Based on investigative work by our police department, we have learned this was an isolated incident,” said the mayor.

“There is no eminent threat to residents in Framingham. I want to thank our Police Department and Chief Trask for their swift response and steadfast effort in the investigation. I also want to thank our District Attorney Marian Ryan for her partnership. As a community, we have to be diligent and acknowledge that violence will not be tolerated in Framingham,” said the Mayor.
