FRAMINGHAM – The Framingham School Committee held its first meet of the new term tonight, January 2. The main purpose was to elect leadership for the next two years.
The 9-member Committee unanimously elected District 4 member Adam Freudberg to serve as its chair.
Freudberg served as chair for the first-ever City of Framingham School Committee from 2018-2019.
There was a split vote for vice chair between District 3 School Committee member Scott Wadland and District 7 School Committee member Tiffanie Maskell.
Maskell was elected vice chair in a 7-2 split vote.
District 2 School Committee member Karen Foran Dempsey and Wadland voted for Wadland.
There are five women on the 9-member School Committee this term, which ends December 31, 2021.
Elected clerk was District 5 School Committee member Priscila Sousa, the first Brazilian-American School Committee member in the City.
Five of the nine School Committee members were re-elected for a second term on the City of Framingham School Committee. Four of the members are new.

District 1: Beverly Hugo
District 2: Foran Dempsey
District 3: Wadland
District 4: Freudberg
District 5: Sousa
District 6: Geoffrey Epstein
District 7 Maskell
District 8: Jessica Stefanini Barnhill
