Faith Community Church Collects 1,045 Sneakers For Needy Framingham Students

FRAMINGHAM – Faith Community Church announced at its Christmas Eve services, the church and its members had exceeded their goal of 1,000 pairs of new sneakers for Framingham students.

In total, 1,045 new pairs of sneakers were collected.

In connection with Framingham Public Schools and Assistant Superintendent of Schools Joseph Corazinni, some of the sneakers were distributed before Christmas.

Plans for distributing the rest will be detailed by Framingham Public Schools at a later date.

Kids take more 13,000 steps a day. In one year, that’s over 1,500 miles. After all that walking, shoes can be worn out and need replacing. The school district has identified a need for sneakers in preschool size 11 to youth size 7, explained the church.

The Taking Strides Together Sneaker Drive was part of that effort and desire. It was targeted towards a need expressed by the school district.

Faith Community Church attendees and members collected shoes during the months of November and December.

The Hopkinton-based church has a Framingham campus at Walsh Middle School with services.
