Rivera Wins Dash; Flyers Fall to Tigers in Season Opener

FRAMINGHAM – Framingham sophomore Antonio Rivera was the lone winner for the Framingham High boys indoor track team in their season opener Thursday afternoon at the Reggie Lewis Center in Boston.

Rivera won the 55-meter dash in 6.82 seconds. Teammate Akye Boston finished second in 7.06 seconds. Newton North’s Chris Claflin took third place in 7.23 seconds.

Newton North won the meet. The Flyers are now 0-1.

Next up for the Flyers is the Raiders of Wellesley High Thursday, Dec. 19 at the Regiss Lewis Center.

Newton North’s Tigers won both relays.

The Tigers also swept all three field events.

Newton North finished 1-2 in the hurdles, with Framingham Junior Sed Lomani third in 8.86 seconds. Otis Love won the event in 7.84 seconds.

The Tigers swept the 1-mile race, and Newton North senior Ian Horsburgh won the 2-mile event.

Newton North runners also swept the 600-meter, and 1,000-meter events.

In the 300-meter event, Newton North junior David Bennett crossed the finish line first in 38.39 seconds. Framingham senior Zack Blumer was second in 39.18 seconds, with Newton North junior Jay Sharma third in 39.65 seconds.
